Bradford Dudley Hill 7s, Friday 26th October 2018

Heworth's successful 2018 season continued unabated on Friday night when they travelled to Bradford Dudley Hill and after a magnificent display returned with the Yorkshire Open Age Floodlit Sevens Trophy. Their achievement was made even more remarkable as due to late call offs they were only able to field the minimum number of seven players.
The Villagers went unbeaten in the group stage of the tournament after victories over Dewsbury Moor, Odsal Sedbergh and hosts Dudley Hill sent them through to the final to take on Farnley Falcons who had also won all three of their qualifying games. The Falconsraced into an early 8-0 lead in the final before Heworth swung into top gear and tries by Joe Deighton (2), Fraser West and Liam Jackson ensured a 24-8 success.
The other four members of a superb squad performance were Sam Atkinson, Dave Hayes, Josh Poulter and Adam Speck.
